Kylie May and A New Personal Record Day 109

London 2012 may be a few weeks away, but ssshh! Don't tell Kylie.  We have her convinced that she is in the middle of her "Baby Olympics" as we speak.  It took an olympic training effort, but our little decathalete is now primed and ready for each of her events: kicking and punching, blowing bubbles, nursing, babbling, teething, sleeping, etc...you know...all the events vital to the integrity of "baby olympics".  She seems to be raising her own bar daily in each of these categories, but today she achieved a monumental PR (personal record).  Since sleep is just a luxury and Nat and I aren't luxurious people, we decided to stay up last night and lament about today's car ride home from Oregon.  LOL! worry? about what?  Kylie set a new nap record today by sleeping for 176 miles (I counted every one).  We were sure that the 4.5 hour drive from Medford to Sacramento would include a few meltdowns and at least 4 stops, but apparently if you completely wear a little child out they sleep...really well.  She slept for the first 2.5 hours, woke up, we stopped, she played, we put her back in the car, she slept for another hour and a half, we stopped, she played, and we made it the last half hour.  Here's her score Meltdowns-0, Stops along the way-2, Best Nap-176miles (2.5hours).  I guess the numbers don't lie.  Kylie exceeded expectations (just like on the report card) and gets the gold.

Kylie and Nat are now snug and cozy at the condo in Sacramento, and I'm nestled in Porterville.  Tomorrow if I can just manage to make it to Ontario Airport by 1pm this trip will have gone just about as smooth as could possibly be expected.  Luckily, I like crazy weather, so this whirl wind weekend that just passed, happened to be somewhat enjoyable.  Today as we were just about to leave Oregon Nat's grandma Jo said, "Well, you know you guys don't have to leave yet" (I think she was happy we made the trip to come see her).  Kylie gave a goodbye smile, slobbery kiss, and cheek pat, and we were off.  I hope we get the chance to make it back up there sometime this summer.

The marathon car day has ended, so I guess the bed beckons.

more to come soon,

-Craig-
