A big day for Kylie and I today. There probably should have been fireworks, a cake, maybe even a parade for Kylie reaching 100...days old, but alas, all that greeted her on this 100th day were hugs and kisses. I guess it could be worse right? In commemoration of her centuremic (I know...it's a made up word) achievement I decided that it would be my last day at Outback...yeah...forever. After 6 years, I greeted it with mixed emotions, but in the end, it seems to be the best option for me and the two ladies in my life. The big question of the day was "So, why are you quitting?". It seems, that with only three days of hospital each week, one day at Outback wouldn't seem out of the realm of feasibility. This is true, but everything (good or bad) has an ending, and this just seemed like as good a time for it as any. It gives me the chance to spend more time with the family (that's pretty important), possibly pick up another day at the hospital, and just eliminate schedule conflicts. I will miss all the great regulars, but it was just time.
As if Kylie needs any excuse to dress up....ha ha ha... she donned a great outfit for one final Outback visit. She put on her smiley face (for a little while) and amazed all my co-workers and the regulars with her wild hair, fun dress, and cute smile. With Father's Day looming so closely on the horizon, seeing her at work, and showing her off to everyone just reminded me of how proud I am to be her Daddy.
Tonight, her and I are having a daddy daughter sleep over while Nat is at work. She has had a hard time sleeping the last few nights, so I am curious to see how the little one will do tonight. Already she has woken up twice (both times I was pretty sure she was down for the count). The great thing though, is that she wakes up, I pick her up, and she just cuddles in on my shoulder and is happy as can be. She settles in and just babbles to herself, chews her fingers, and rest her head until her eyes get too heavy again and she powers down. It can be a little tiresome when she wakes up, but something about how cuddly she is makes it seem bearable. We'll see how mini Nat and I does the rest of the way tonight.
more to come soon,

Craig -- So sorry we missed out on your last night at the Outback. Greg ended up flying up north to a funeral and I have been on sick-doggy-duty. We should all plan to meet some night -- I'd love to meet Kylie and Natalie! I'm sure we'll be seeing you around the hospital... :)

I'd say sick dog duty definitely takes precedence on that one. I'll miss seeing you guys at the old OB from time to time, but it would be fun to get together some time (maybe even at Outback) and enjoying being served there, instead of doing the serving. :-)
