Kylie May and Her Porterville Family Hangout Day 88

The caravan arrived...and on it, there were people.  It wasn't the Donors, and they weren't exactly navigating the Oregon Trail, but the family did have to make the drive from Porterville, which in its own right, presents some hazards.  It has only been about a week since we saw them, but I think Kylie has already grown up just a tad bit more  during that time (at least when we had her stand against the wall and drew a pencil line, she looked taller).  I'm pretty sure if she could do her baby sign language already (she spends all her time watching TV instead of practicing) she would have told us how excited she is to have them all here.  It was really a cinematic masterpiece, today, when Kylie and grandma Didi got to have their morning hangout.  Chariots of fire was playing in the background and everything was moving in slow motion (either that or my eyes were still foggy from sleep deprivation).  Needless to say they were happy to reunite.

I don't know if it is too early to tell, but preliminary polls suggest that May day is, in fact, a morning person (much to the chagrin of her parents).  She was just chalked full of smiles, giggles, and coos this morning when grandma Didi came and got her out of bed.  This is no new feat, but often, it goes unnoticed by observers other than Nat and I.  It was great to share these fun moments with someone, because describing them, simply does not do them justice (kinda like saying "yeah, Yosemite valley is pretty).  The yin to this yang, however, is bed time.  It seems to be everything that morning time is not, thus the branding of "morning person".  To avoid the dark side (a la Anakin Skywalker), however, I will pull my metachloriones back to the light, and focus on the good stuff.  Kylie had, what can only be described, as "Top Notch" entertainment provided to her all day by Grandpa David, Auntie Quin, Auntie Erica, Grandma Didi, and Auntie Alisa (Nat was getting some shut eye and I was stuck on a dental "crown" visit for four hours).  From sitting with Grandpa as he dazzled her with the claw, to reading books and swinging with Auntie Quin, to R n R n R (resting n reading n rocking) in the multiple rockers with grandma, to taking a Moby stroll with Auntie Erica,  Kylie was just spoiled with love and attention the entire day.  Nat and I really appreciated the extra hands, and it made us wonder why the whole "living in tribes" thing phased out anyway....another of life's conundrums (kinda like how the saying, "you can't have your cake and eat it too" makes any sense at all).

A great day was capped by a fun evening.  Papa and Mimi hosted dinner, as they got to sprinkle in their daily portion of Kylie love.  Nat, Kylie, and I made a quick stop to our last Financial Peace class (I know it may seem oxymoronical, but we are actually feeling some peace with our finances now) then headed back to enjoy a delicious BBQ with the whole family.  Kylie tells me she has now attended 417 mini parties/BBQ's in her short little life....."what Kylie?"...."Oh I'm sorry. That number is only from the last month"  I guess she is starting out by giving us all a very good example of how to live life to its fullest. "thanks for the reminder sweet pea"

Well, before Darth makes an appearance we'll get her to bed, pack up for a San Diego trip tomorrow, and Nat and I will play our new favorite game: "see if we can hit the pillow before our eyes close"

more to come soon,

-Craig-

Any resemblance?  They could almost be related.

Yep. About this time is when I wrote her the blank check

Today Dr. Seuss, tomorrow Shakespeare

Kisses from grandma are quite the surprise these days

I think what people appreciate most is how patient Kylie is when she teaches them how to read.

Hmm... It's a little curious...she's been doing this ever since the other night, when I caught her watching a History Channel documentary on the Black Panthers.

Kylie (speaking):  "Who me?  No I wasn't going to use mommie's tummy as a trampoline.  It must have been that E-trade baby"

Just another example of how last minute cramming can actually help.
