Snow angels, sleigh rides, dog sledding, snow shoeing and,
of course…. Racing down a hill on a toboggan.
These are the wonderful things that time in the snow has to offer. Snow? For the Southern California family?
Yep. Sometimes even the city mouse finds himself smack dab in the middle of the
country. With our boots tied tight, and every jacket we own on our back, Nat
and I are embracing our parental duty. What might this be you ask? Teaching our
child the ways of the wilderness…the snowy wilderness. So how did we help Kylie usher in her first
frozen rain experience? By leaving her tucked in the cozy house and warm car as
Nat and I adventured through the forest… naturally. Sorry Kylie.
The outdoor powdered sugar will have to wait until tomorrow.
Yosemite…great. Time off with the family…even better. Having the snow start falling as we sit by
the fire and watch it… priceless. We are
getting some really nice snow fall tonight, so our goal for tomorrow is to
bundle Kylie (cozier than she has been since womb time), pull out the sled, and
let our Eskimo give that snow all it can handle (or vice versa).
The hard part of this trip was making the six+ hour drive
yesterday. Kylie did really well though
and now she is really having fun scooting all over the house, opening some
early Christmas presents, watching everyone compete in the “Amazing Melcher
Race” activities (it has become a tradition), eating like a small moose, and
encouraging anyone who will listen to take her for a quick walk around the
cottage.
Tomorrow we’ll see how snow day goes.
More to come soon,
Craig
