He fianlly has a name!

First things first, we decided on a name...Cooper Marshall Johnson. This name has been on our list since we were pregnant with Kylie and we still love it. We took our time in making the decision to make sure we thought it was really right for him, but in the end we think it fits him perfectly. If you ask Kylie she says his name is "Cooper Marshall Lay Johnson," not sure where the Lay came from, but she likes to throw it in there.

Kylie slept in her own bed until 5am, yay! We all got up around 6:45. We decided to take a walk this morning to Olive Market to get some fresh air before it started getting hot. I know it seems crazy to be out of the house with a 3 day old, but I really wanted to get out and get some fresh air and decaf coffee. So we wrapped Cooper (he still didn't have a name this morning) and we walked to the market. We got some coffee and a snack and then walked to may parents on the way home. It was a great little morning adventure.

Kylie took a 3 hour nap while Cooper was taking a long nap with his daddy, I actually had a little time to myself, it was wonderful. I got a chance to look through some of the birth photos and start to pick my favorites. I would have been able to get more done, but my office is now upstairs and it is SO hot up there in the middle of the day that I could only take it for a little while.

When Kylie woke up from her nap, she got her swim suit on and she and Craig headed to Renae's house to swim in the kids pool. She had a great time swimming, playing and eating pizza. I got to enjoy some special time with Cooper while I tried to keep up with the laundry and cleaning, easier said then done when you have to stop about every 15 minutes to nurse a little bunny.

Cooper has been doing well, he is nursing like a champ, I am not sore at all and since my milk came in he is doing a great job. Lots of wet diapers but no poopy diaper until this evening when he had the hugest blowout I have every seen from a newborn, it was everywhere!! Through the diaper, out the onesie, through the blanket and a little on to my shirt, well done kid. And here is our first opportunity to use one of our nick names for him Cooper the Pooper! His skin is peeling a lot, it takes a lot of self control to not sit and pick at it, he looks like he got a horrible sun burn, poor kid. He is also experiencing lots and lots of yellow discharge in the corners of his eyes, it ends up across this whole eye, then his eye gets glued shut. We think it is clogged tear ducts so we are using warm compresses, pressure on the duct to try and help open it and breastmilk in to the eye (which seems to be making the biggest difference), breastmilk is amazing.

This evening, after swim time at Renae's, we decided to go to Tuesday night Pajama Story Time at the library. We have never been, but Renae was taking her nephews and Kylie want to go to. It was fun, we got her in her pj's and we headed down. She enjoyed listening to the stories, she sat on Renae's lap for most of the time. Cooper seemed to enjoy his first story time even though it was very different from the Thursday morning stories and singing. We walked by Ama and Papa's on the way home and got to see them and auntie Marta for a couple minutes. We also visited with Tabitha, Darin and Nico on the walk home. Tabitha was so wonderful today and not only picked us up something from Costco, but brought us over delicious food for dinner tonight, complete with chocolate chip cookies. She is the kind of neighbor and friend everyone wishes for, genuine, wonderful person, I don't know how we got so lucky. Thank you again Tabitha.

We got home and I worked on getting a bath going for both kids, ahhh, and Craig prepared some food. We put our baby tub in the big tub and filled them both. Kylie was thrilled about having brother Cooper Marshall Lay take a bath with her. He even seemed to enjoy his first bath for about the first 5 minutes. Once I started washing him with soap he was not so sure. but overall he did really great. It was so fun to give him his first bath, he smelled so wonderfully sweet afterward and it was nice to get some of that peeling skin out of there.

Overall it was another wonderful day. It is still so wonderful having Craig home, I don't know how I would be doing if he was back to work. But hopefully when he goes back on Saturday I can convince my family to come hang out with us a little more so I don't totally freak out :o)

Breakfast time, he seems to like sitting like this, Kylie likes it too because then she can see him and kiss him lots.
 After his first bath,
Kylie could not get Punchkin (our build-a-bear)'s shoes to fit her, so she put them on her brother. So it begins, be prepared Cooper, there is lot's of dress up in your future.
Proud big sister, singing to him.
This was while I was writing the blog last night, so sweet.
My happy place this morning was right between the little ones.
His eyes are still puffy, but we got to see them open a lot more today, such a sweet little boy, we are so madly in love.

More to come soon,
Natalie
