Happy Birthday Melissa, but where is the new baby?

Many people celebrated birthdays today, Melissa and Adam were hoping for another family member to be birthday buddies with, but considering I have about 15 min until midnight, I don't think it is going to happen :o) Today was a fun day, we took Kylie down to Olive Market for a brunch date with Kyle, Kerry and baby Olivia. We also got to see Chris, Rachel and there two beautiful daughters, Ella and Brooklyn. After brunch Kylie enjoyed the "Celebrate Kids" event hosted at Olive Market. The street was closed and they had many different activities for little ones. Kylie made a necklace, did some paper mache, played with home made play dough and got a rainbow painted on her arm, talk about fun. We spent a good part of our day enjoying the festivities and sunshine.

We headed back home for a nap then got a visit from Cathy. We have not see her in a long time, it was wonderful to catch up with her, I am so glad she took the time to come see us during her short trip to Redlands.

This evening we headed out shopping for a birthday gift for Melissa and some yummy Jamba Juice. We then headed to my parents for my sister's birthday BBQ. It was a wonderful dinner and yummy dessert. Melissa was determined to hold the silver necklace over my tummy again to see if it said I was still having a girl. This time the necklace went back and forth, boy. Interesting. Only time will tell, but she was bummed, she was hoping for a girl :o) Kylie entertained us all by doing a lot of talking and singing during dinner. She sang Happy Birthday to Melissa a couple times, then preceded to sing Happy Birthday to everyone sitting around the table. She does a good job making us all feel very special. This amazing kid also sang "you are my sunshine" and "let's go fly a kite" almost perfectly as part of our dinner entertainment. Her ability to memorize songs is amazing, I feel like we should get some School House Rock and start teaching her some fun facts that will benefit her later in life.

I have had a handful of contractions again today, but still nothing that feels like it could be labor. Our good friends Thad and Michelle called earlier, they are in labor, yay! Her water broke and they are doing an amazing job trucking along the long, hard journey to bring their first little girl into the world. We can't wait to get the word that she is here. I have been hoping that our little one would be inspired by their little one and head out. There is still a chance we could jump on the labor band wagon tonight or tomorrow and have a June 1st birthday buddy, we will see. During dinner I was feeling a little crampy, and over the past hour or so I have had another handful of contractions, but I feel like this is just what my body does in the evening and as soon as I climb in to bed everything will stop. I know this baby knows when the perfect time is and I am trying to just stop thinking about it, but easier said then done. I planned on being at least 8 days late with Kylie (that is the average for first babies), but with second babies there is not anything that predictable and when I started contracting at 34 weeks, I thought for sure this little one would want to come at least a little early. But now I am trying to change my mind set. The baby is doing great, moving well, and is obviously sacred to join our wild family ;o) so I just have to be patient. This little one must not want to share the birthday spotlight, so it will just wait for it's own special day. Sounds good to us little one, we are just eager to meet you :o)

More to come soon,
Natalie

This is her "smile" for the camera face.

Kids day fun.

"Happy Birthday dear Marta..."
