So yesterday we enjoyed more time with Liz and Zachary. In the morning we got a quick visit from Aunt Pam. It was wonderful to see her for a quick visit and I was so glad she got to meet little Cooper. Thank you Aunt Pam for the cute outfits :o) A little later Craig took both Zachary and Kylie down to play at my parents and Cooper came with Liz and I on a little shopping trip. After getting a quick cup of coffee, we headed to KidSwap restore. Liz and I had a great time shopping for our little ones. I often shop here and for months now I have been looking at the baby things wondering if I was going to get to come and shop for boys clothes at some point. So when the opportunity presented itself I was so excited! I got Cooper a handful of cute outfits and pjs, it was a very successful trip.
In the afternoon we got a visit from Auntie Johanna, yay! Kylie was so excited to see her and show off her new baby brother. Thank you Auntie Jo for the sweet gifts and for taking time to come hang out with us, we can't wait for the boys to come and meet Cooper too!
Our wonderful neighbors Matt and Undi offered to bring us dinner last night, we have such wonderful friends! Not only did they bring us dinner, but we got to enjoy our meal with them, another big "family" dinner, it was so fun. After dinner Liz and Zachary had to go home, it was so fun to have them here, I hope they can come visit again soon.
I'm sure I have left out some parts of the day, but right now that's all I can remember, baby brain.
So on to today...
Sleep has not been as bad as I anticipated, for the most part Kylie is sleeping in her own bed until around 4:30-5ish, then she joins us for a couple hours in the morning, it is great. But the last two nights both of them have woken up at 4am making it hard to know how to manage them. Often if I hear Kylie waking up, I will just lay down next to her, nurse her for a minute and she is back to sleep no prob. The plan is the same for Cooper, but when they both need me at the same time it is a little hard to figure out. The poor Craig is also up trying to help and often it ends up that we just have to bring Kylie to our bed and I nurse them both. Which has not been a big problem, but over the past couple night I developed a big knot in my neck and every night it seems to get worse. Last night it was hurting so bad that I actually got up and took something for the pain so I could go back to sleep. So silly that my body feels great after delivering but now I am medicating sore neck. I think I just keep sleeping on it funny or maybe this is all more stressful then I realize and I am holding it all in my neck. Who knows but I am hoping it gets better soon or I will be walking around like I have a neck brace on :o)
This morning Cooper got to meet his Uncle Graham and Auntie Jess. They came down from SF for Melissa's graduation from nursing school, Father's Day and to meet the little guy. Thank you Jess for making Cooper and beautiful blanket and for the Bunny blanket for Kylie, you are so talented! We had a yummy breakfast together before they headed out for some of the graduation festivities. Craig, Kylie, Cooper and I hung out around the house this afternoon, we tried to get some chores done and just enjoyed being together as a family. Craig has to go back to work tomorrow :o( It has been SO wonderful having him home, I miss him so much when he is gone, so does Kylie. Because I am taking time off work and we are not teaching clinicals during the summer, Craig is planning to try and work extra shifts every week. I know it is important so we can make ends meet, but I am going to miss him. I hope the kids and I can get in to a good routine, especially at night, so Craig can get the rest he needs and the extra days will not be too stressful.
This evening we had a delicious BBQ at my parents, the weather was wonderful, Kylie got to play outside in her new play area and we enjoyed visiting with Jess and Graham. Tomorrow we will all go to Melissa's graduation and have a big lunch celebration. It will be interesting having a day without Craig, luckily my family close by and able to help, I don't know how I would do getting us all out of the house without some help. I'm sure I will ease in to my role as a mother of 2, but I don't feel like I have a good handle on it yet, granted it has only been 1 week :o)
Some photos from the past few days...
Thursday- Kylie and Harper
Thursday- Play time upstairs with all the big kids, Cooper didn't want to miss out.
Friday morning Kylie said "no mommy, I want daddy to paint my nails." So Craig got a quick lesson in how to use my dotting tool and he successfully painted Kylie's nails just the way she wanted, using the pink, green and purple with white polka dots on top.
So stylish. The sad thing is that she walks better in my heels then I do!
Tuesday night at pajama story time.
Coopers first bath, we forgot to get a photo while they were both in there, but there will be many more baths to come.
Another fashion statement, the bead and hospital badge really complete the look.
Taking a walk with her baby in a sling. She also insisted on having her hair in a bun, with her headband and a hat, don't forget the fancy sandals that she insists are NOT to big for her.
Today, my little sports boy, his Daddy's new favorite outfit for him.
Cuddle time this morning.
This morning after our breakfast, I can't believe I have a daughter and a son, I am so blessed!
Yesterday daddy painted her fingers, and today I painted the toes to match.
Friday, first time in the car seat, he did pretty well.
Today Kylie was showing off her gym-nurse-tics this is her new favorite move, hands-free down dog, silly girl!
More to come soon,
Natalie
