Craig headed back to work today while Ammy and I held down the fort with the little ones. This morning Kylie and Ammy took a walk to Ama and Papas house to water the plants and play in the backyard while I took a quick shower and spent some quality time with Coop. Craig accidentally forgot his phone at home, so we took the opportunity to visit him at work. We also thought it would be fun to surprise him with Jamba Juice, so we took a quick trip to Jamba then Kylie and I delivered our special treat to Craig while Ammy drove around trying to keep Cooper happy in the car. He did pretty well, but on the way home he was getting so upset that I decided to pull out the old "nurse in the car" trick. I get really good at this when Kylie was little and now with our new car seats it is even easier. So Cooper got a little snack while Ammy drove and he was back to sleep before we got home.
After visiting Craig and Auntie Jo at the hospital, Kylie was getting sleepy. During our drive home she started asking for "one day" stories. Now Lala was the queen of "one day" stories for the past 5 days, she made up more stories then I can count. So when Kylie started asking us to recite the new stories we did our best to remember them. We didn't do a very good job because she kept saying "no that's not how it goes." So what did we do? We got Lala on the phone! Thank goodness she answered, she told all her best stories all the way home, thank you Lala!
When we got home Kylie did something she has never done before, she told me she was ready for a nap and walked to the bedroom and climbed in bed. Usually we are begging her to take a nap and often I nurse her for a long time before she actually falls asleep. Today we climbed in bed, nursed and within about 5 minutes she was out, it was awesome.
When she woke up from her nap we headed out to our two week visit with Karen. Both Cooper and I are doing really well. His clogged tear duct has resolved, his belly button is looking great and he is nursing like a champ. He is getting so much milk, actually, that he often coughs and sputters while he is nursing. He is able to keep it all down and doesn't spit up, and he looks like he is getting a little more chunky :o) We weighed him today at our appointment and he is in fact gaining well. He now weighs 10lbs 3oz! Almost two pounds up from his birth weight of 8lbs 6oz. I could not believe it! I was thinking he would be a little over birth weight, maybe even 9lbs 6oz, but I would have never guessed that he gained so much in just two weeks. In the home birth world we don't weigh babies very often, so I have no idea if he lost any weight after birth or if he just started gaining. My guess is that if he did loose weight after birth, it was not very much since I didn't receive any fluids during labor that might have added to a false high birth weight. He is happy and healthy and quickly growing out of his newborn and 0-3 month clothing, it's already going to fast!
He are a few of the photos Al and I took over the past few days.
More to come soon,
Natalie
Already a happy Giants fan!
