Sorry we didn't get a chance to write yesterday, but here is a quick update.
Craig and I spent most of the day (yesterday) packing and preparing for beach week. For years now Craig's family, along with another family, have rented a house at Cayucos Beach (central coast). We move our two big families in for one week and enjoy spending time soaking in the sun, sleeping, eating, reading, playing games and just enjoying being together as a family. It is the one time a year we can count on all of us being together and we look forward to it all year long. The count for dinner tonight was 20 of us in the house, and we still have more arriving later tonight at later in the week, yay! So anyway yesterday we were packing, turns out it is not so easy to pack for a family of four. I have been working on it all week, but we still didn't get out of the house as early as I would have hoped. My dad took Kylie down to market night while we were packing the car and bike rack (Craig wanted to be able to ride during the week so he got a new bike rack for his new bike), and she got to ride a new pony, of course right now I can't remember it's name, but I will ask Kylie tomorrow and put it in the blog then. He also got her some pull-up diapers, apparently she is doing really well and actually tells my parents when she wants to use the bathroom, she won't do it with us, but she is doing well with them, go figure :o) So we got in the car and headed out. We drove two hours to my friend Liz's house where we stopped for the night so we didn't have to make the 4 hour drive in one go. The drive went pretty well, Kylie asked us to tell her about 100 "one day" stories, we started to get a little annoyed, she would just yell "one day one day one day one day one day one day..." Cooper slept most of the day yesterday, but he still slept well during the drive. Kylie finally fell asleep, I offered her a pacifier (that I had hoping it would work for Cooper), she sucked on it for a little bit then flipped it upside down and totally fell asleep. In two years and 4 months she has never taken a pacifier, but I guess there is a first for everything.
We made it to Liz's, Kylie stayed asleep and Cooper woke, we visited for a little bit then headed to bed. Zachary and Kylie were bright eyed and bushy tailed by 6:45am and our day had started. We had a delicious breakfast and enjoyed some good playtime before we once again packed up and hit the road. This second drive went well also, Cooper slept for almost all of the drive and Kylie took a nice nap about half way through. We stopped in SLO for yummy tri-tip sandwiches form Firestone and got to Cayucos around 2:30. Kylie was so excited to see everyone, she kept repeating the names of everyone she was going to see and when we got there she squealed with delight at the sight of her Lala and Doe. We spent the afternoon on the beach greeting everyone as they arrived and watching the amazing dolphins and a beautiful whale. It is common to see dolphins off the shore, sometimes they even come quite close, but today there was a whale! It stayed for a while swimming back and forth, it was so amazing, what a wonderful way to start our beach vacation. Cooper got the hang of beach really well, he ate and slept and ate and slept, perfect. Kylie ran on the beach, went on the swings, down the slide, and took a "sand bath." We moved in to our beach house, both kids took a bubble bath and we ate a delicious dinner. The house was full of talking and games, Kylie had fun "checking out" everyone (playing dr.) and entertaining us all during dinner. We are so glad to be here on vacation. Craig has been working so hard, it will be wonderful to spend time as a family this week. It's bed time now, I think I have convinced some of the aunties and uncles to write for the rest of the week, yay!!
More to come soon,
Natalie
Bubble bath! Kylie was having fun until it was time to wash her hair, she is not a fan of the hair washing these days, she screams and cries and tries to get out of the tub. Bath time might be a challenge this week considering we will have sunscreen and sand to battle, but I'm sure we will make it work.
Kylie and Zachary helped to make yummy blueberry muffins this morning.
Kylie helped to wash Cooper.
Happy boy last night when we arrived to Liz's house.
He had a few happy moments in the car today.
Kylie sleeping last night, notice the pacifier in her mouth, silly girl.
Nap time in the car today, Craig and I actually got to enjoy some conversation while we drove, it was wonderful.
Kylie and Zachary took a little ride in Zachary's new car, he was not so sure he wanted to share.
