Cooper Marshall Le’s Party and Fireworks Day

You’ve heard of Christmas miracles right? Well apparently those exist for the 4th of July too because Natalie’s wish for a guest blogger is finally being answered by none other than Auntie Doe (Quin).

It’s amazing how much Cooper has already changed and grown in the few short weeks since he was born. It’s only been about a week and a half since I saw him, but when I arrived last night I exclaimed  “HE’S HUGE!” Okay, so maybe that was an exaggeration, but he definitely has gotten bigger. This morning he woke up and mentally prepared himself for his big debut to the world while Aunties, Uncles, Parents, and Grandparents went this way and that way getting the house all ready for the rockin party. My personal task, along with my trusty sidekick Lala, was trying to keep up with Kylie and avoid undoing all of the cleaning and organizing that was being done. Luckily Kylie loves to be outside so we had fun strolling around outside for a while and enjoying eachother’s company. Guests started arriving right on time and continued in steadily until we had about 10 kids and 30 or so adults all eating, visiting and painting new Cooper rocks for the rock garden. Of course, Cooper fell asleep right about the time the first guest arrived and slept through a good 75% of his own party. But hey, he’s so cute that he can get away with it. Kylie had a blast at the party and thrived with a house full of people to entertain. She especially loved hanging out with her friend Renee and showing her all of her toys. On behalf of Craig and Natalie, I want to thank all of those who were here and those who couldn’t make it but were here in spirit to celebrate and embrace Cooper. It was such a fun time and we really appreciate everyone making time to come out and see/meet the little guy.

When the party was over, we all enjoyed a leisurely lunch and some much needed hours of rest/naps/soccer watching. In his never ending cycle of sleeping and eating, Cooper got to have some good cuddle time with Uncle Timmy and Auntie Tay Tay and also some good awake/alert times of smiling and kicking and being such a happy little boy. I am not a morning person in any sense of the word… unless Kylie is around. When I get to come visit, I happily get woken up in the pre-8 a.m. hours of the morning to spend as much time with her as possible. That being said, I was definitely ready for a nap by this afternoon while Kylie took her nap. While I slept, Natalie and Taylor planned out a little photo session for Craig and Nat’s little family right down to the perfect matching outfits. After a proper 4th of July dinner consisting of hot dogs, hamburgers and corn on the cob. Craig, Nat, Kylie, Cooper, Tay Tay, and a couple of helpers headed to the park to try and get some cute newborn/family photos.

I heard that it was pretty successful and when they got home, we gathered the troops and headed over to Uncle Marty and Aunt Carolynn's house to watch the Country Club's firework show. Kylie is still a little on the fence about the whole fireworks thing. She's both fascinated and frightened by them and ultimately decided to stay inside the house with Mommy and Cooper during the show. But a good time was had by all and even Kylie not watching the fireworks has resulted in a One Day story, as most things do these days. In the car on the way home, Kylie said, "Doe, tell me the one day story where Kylie didn't want to watch the fireworks." Silly girl. Because of Kylie's long nap this afternoon, we got to sneak in some extra play time when we got home. Lala and I may get physically tired after a while, but we never mentally get tired of telling one day stories, playing doctor, bouncing on the exercise ball, and doing all sorts of silly things with our Kylie May. We just love her company and she keeps us laughing and laughing with how smart she is and all of her cute little phrases that she whips out. One of my favorites of the day was "You kiddin me?!" said with the cutest little innocent voice. We sure do miss her when we're gone and we try to soak in all these cute little moments with her. It's a rare thing to have so many of our Johnson family members together, and although we missed Kyle today, it was so nice being here and enjoying our adorable niece and nephew together. It makes me even more excited for Beach Week which is in T Minus 6 Days!! It was a pretty busy day and pretty much everyone has hit the hay in preparation for tomorrow. Craig will be working and the Johnson group is headed our separate ways again in the afternoon so Natalie will have an adventure with a couple of little ones and a suddenly empty house. Luckily she's got some other good helpers around the neighborhood who are happy to love on them too, not to mention she's working that whole super mom thing ;-)

Until next time,
Doe

Kylie likes to get out some of her favorite books and read to Lala and Doe. She doesn't exactly go "by the book" but her versions are always better anyway.

Kylie got some new high heels as a big sister present. She loves them! She wore them around all day, even in her PJs. Is it bad that she is better at walking in high heels than I am?
