Kylie May's Sleepy Day 115

Well if you don't have a sleepy night, you have to make up for it sometime, hence the sleepy day. I had a very busy night at the hospital, I arrived to find my patient ready to start pushing about 30 min after I got there. She delivered, recovered, I took her to postpartum, I came back to the unit and grabbed a quick snack while I pumped. Walked back on to the floor to find that the new patient I was taking over was 10 centimeters and ready to push, take two, delivered, recovered, postpartum, snack while pumping, back to the floor. At this point my charge nurse looked at me and said "I'm sorry" and I knew I was in for some more fun. Sure enough she was ready to push, so here we go again, delivered, recovered, transferred to postpartum and this time the transfer was at 7:15 am and when I walked back to the unit all I had to do was catch up on some charting and go home! (Usually two deliveries in one night is considered very busy for one nurse, it was a crazy night) I always feel bad when I am running late on my way home, Craig knows I should be home around 8, so if Kylie is hungry he will try to hold her off. So I text Craig telling him I was going to be late, no response. Text him once I was in the car on my way, no response. At this point I am starting to wonder, they are either both fast asleep or she is so upset he can't even get to his phone. I opened the front door, expecting the worst and what do I hear? Silence...I listen closer...yep, silence, not even a little peep. I tiptoe to the bedroom and see this...

Yeah!!!!! The two loves of my life fast asleep. Evidence of the nighttime activities surrounding them (just outside the frame of the photo were a few books, clean diapers, dirty diapers, and our rocking chair). I didn't know what to do with myself, this is the first time I have come home to such a quiet house. So I pumped and took my time getting ready for bed, ahhh, it was so nice not to have to rush. I climbed in to bed and within minutes Craig was getting up and ready for church. Kylie and I slept and nursed until he came home and got her up. I continued to sleep (and nurse Kylie when Craig brought her in) until about 1:30 when I came into the living room to find Kylie sleeping with Craig in his chair, which resulted in a little nap for both of them. She woke, I fed her, we played and in no time at all we were back to nursing and taking another little nap. This time the napping bug got all of us, Craig went and climbed in bed, Kylie and I on the couch. The next this I realized it was already 5:15pm1 And just like that our day was rapidly coming to an end. I fixed us dinner, Craig got ready for work, Kylie sat in her bumbo and watched us while she rocked a bran new hair style...pigtails!

It might be hard to see, but in fact there are very little curly pigtails on either side of her head, and yes she is wearing her Giants outfit (daddy dressed her of course :-)). Right as daddy was about to walk out the door to work, another familiar face was walking in, Grandma Diana!! That's right Grandma DiDi came to visit. Tomorrow night Craig and I will both be working (Craig for 12 hours, me for 4) and we needed someone to help out with Kylie (my family is all out of town). So Diana came down for a few days and we can not be more grateful. These nights, when Craig is gone are hard for me, it is so wonderful to have someone else her to help with Kylie and help me feel safe in our little house. Grandma and Kylie played this evening, spent a little time on the front porch and walking around outside. It is so wonderful to have Diana here, it will be great for her and Kylie to have a little Grandma-Granddaughter time tomorrow. For now it's off to bed, good night.
More to come soon,
Natalie

At the BBQ yesterday, Kylie was very entertained by the boys on the other side of the table

Great-grandpa with Kylie

I am learning more about my camera, this was outside at the park after the BBQ

Kylie meeting Herald (my grandparents turtle) for the first time

Multitasking, sucking the thumb and kicking in the water, nice.

At the pool in her new toy from yesterday.
I just can't believe her hair is long enough to make little piggies with, I love it!
