Kylie May's visit to Maria Ct. Day 80

I will start by saying that Craig and Kylie did very well last night. She cat napped until about 11pm when she finally fell asleep until about 3am. After a quick feeding and diaper change she and daddy were back to sleep until about 6:30, another bit of milk and the princess was fast asleep when I got home around 8. One of the great things about having a newborn is the fact that they really enjoy sleeping any time of day. Once I climbed in bed, Kylie nursed and we slept until Craig got home from church around noon. I sometimes wonder if she would stay in bed the whole day, eating and sleeping, as long as she had little episodes of naked time and clean diapers, I bet she would be happy as a clam :o) I slept a little longer while Craig got Kylie up and put her in her first outfit of the day. When Craig came to show her off to me he made sure to call it her "costume" and not an outfit. Thank goodness because I was a little worried, and all it took was my worried face to make Craig change her in to something else.

This afternoon my mom, dad, sister, Craig, Kylie and I all headed to a block party on Maria Ct. Maria Ct is the street I grew up on, the only house I lived in as a kid. My parents still own our house there but they started renting the rooms once they moved downtown. Every year the neighborhood has a block party, we have not been able to go until this year. It was so great to reconnect with some of our old neighbors and meet some of the families that now live in the neighborhood, and of course it was fun to introduce Kylie to everyone. We ate and visited until the sun went down, we then headed home with the intention of walking to the Redlands Bowl and watching the Shakespeare Festival tonight, but after some good naked time, Kylie was in her pj's and ready for bed. So was Craig apparently, I found him fast asleep in his comfy chair.

One other fun moment from tonight...for the first time I was able to watch the video of Kylie's birth. We had two videos going and this one captures the 30 min before she is born until about 5 min after. It was so wonderful to watch her come into the world, it was also interesting to see how my labor progressed at the end. I never had the midwife check me to see how far dilated I was, so I basically labored until I had the urge to push. I was not coached through my pushing, everyone just stayed quiet and let me and my body do what we needed to do. I yelled and screamed and at one point I am saying "it hurts it hurts it hurts..." but that was literally seconds before her head was out. It was really amazing to watch Craig and I as we meet our little girl for the first time, in the background you can hear the laughter and tears of our mothers and my sister. It is also so fun to see my face when Craig tells me "it's a girl," it was a few min after she was born before I asked, and I was just so surprised. It makes me eager to have another :o)

Anyway it was a great day, there is nothing better then spending time with my amazing husband and incredible daughter.

More to come,

Natalie
Kylie's "costume" this morning. Yes she is wearing grey and white stripes, salmon pants with flower bows and bright yellow bloomers, and doesn't she look thrilled :o)

Not sure if she is entertianed by auntie Melissa or not, so she gives the half smile.

On our way home from the block party, someone was sleepy.

Naked time at the block party.

That's not where your name tag belongs silly girl!
