Kylie May and Her Redlands Return Day 79

Today was a day and that is about all I have to say about that.  People have asked me, and I sometimes wonder, how do you write in a blog every day for a whole year?  Good question.  I think I have discovered though that as long as Kylie keeps being herself I will always find something to type about.

No use going all Pacquiao vs. Mayweather and dragging this thing out, I will get straight to the pertinent info.. Last Night's Drive...  In short, it went great.  Natalie and my true concern with the whole "I really don't like my car seat"  thing is that we feel like we are conditioning our little one to scream when she is in the car.  Why?  Because when we are making our drives she seems to get fussy and then scream and then we pull over to take her out.   Nat and I both feel like this turns into a popsicle slope in which Kylie has a Thomas Edison moment and realizes that if she screams enough she gets to get out of the car seat.  We would much rather nip this in the bud and teach her that she gets to get out of the car when we get to where we are going, and this has nothing to do with how much she screams.  Last night, with a little quick maneuvering, we pulled this off about as smoothly as a 2-month old parent can do.  We left as late as possible so that the teeny queeny was good and tired.  We kept driving as long as she was asleep (which was about an hour to an hour and a half at a time) and the moment she woke up (she is always happy right when she wakes up) we pulled off the road and let her nurse, stretch, and play for about 10-15 minutes.  This killed the proverbial two birds with one rock.  1) she got good and tired. 2) it accomplished our task of getting her out of the seat while she was still happy.  LOL!  we are glad it worked, but we never imagined a car ride would take Navy Seal caliber precision.  Yep! I'm sure the surgeon general (or whoever runs the CIA) would have been slightly amused with the tactical blueprint we employed to get home with a little peace and quiet last night.

Today.  I worked.  Tonight, Natalie works.  This means Kylie and I are on our own.  We have already blown through one diaper and one set of PJ's, but she is now in bed asleep, so I have a minute to write the blog and gather all my supplies for the next wakeful period.

Off I go, to be mr. mom.  Wish me luck....I know I'll need it.

more to come soon,

-Craig-
