Watching your child reach milestones...a sure fire way to turn a normal, relaxing afternoon into an unforgettable day. We rolled out of bed this morning all geared up for another R-n-R day in Porterville, and that is exactly what it was. Nat and I spend so much time working that we really enjoy days like this, where we all just spend the whole day together, not really doing much of anything except playing with the wee one. In the midst of all the Grandpa, Grandma, Auntie, and Uncle play time we discovered something. It wasn't exactly Chris Columbus finding a "new world" or Earl of Sandwhich uncovering sliced bread, but it was a discovery in its own right. Today we found a way to make Kylie laugh. Sure, she has given us giggles before, but they always seem to come at random, unpredictable times. This afternoon though, Miss May provided house wide entertainment by being a good sport, and laughing on cue. How we began the festivities I am not sure, but at some point I lay down next to Kylie and started counting to her in sign language. I was saying the numbers as I signed them, and she just thought it was the funniest thing since Abbot and Costello's reunion tour. Talk about a heart warming experience. Something about a baby's laugh (or the little squeal that we call Kylie's laugh) that just makes life a little funner. Needless to say, we rode that donkey till it bucked us, but it was great while it lasted. I think I counted to ten in sign language about 100 times...and she laughed every time. I guess we might try that game a little more tomorrow.
After some "little red swing" time, a bath in grandma Didi's sink (don't be fooled by the pictures...she liked it...maybe) , a face to face with Zoe (the bigger version of Chloe the Australian Shepard), play time with her Aunties and Uncles (She really loved being held and rocked by Quin, Lane, Tim, Erica, and Grandma), and some time watching the Giant's game, Kylie has provided a signed affadavit stating how much she enjoys coming to Grandpa and Grandma's. We need the legal document to justify the long car ride next time. I think she might be a little more agreeable if she remembers why we have to make the trek.
Speaking of road trips, we are currently in the midst of trying our newest trick to help make the ride easier for the teeny queeny. We are watching Kylie play on the floor until she is sooo tired that she can't keep her eyes open any more, and then we strapping her into the fun seat, and hittin the highway before she knows what happened. Will this work? Who know? It's worth a shot though, and I guess we'll let you know.
more to come soon,
-Craig-
p.s. Kylie loved getting to see Uncle Kyle for his 25th birthday on the 25th of May. She only saw him for a couple minutes, but he let her have a piece of his birthday cake, and that was enough to win her heart.

She will learn that spa days are a staple of life of a lady |

In hindsight, I guess we should have taken the forks out of the sink before putting the baby in. |

I heard that the wind blown look is really catching on over seas |
