Kylie May's First Music Class day 356

As if starting new Gymboree class wasn't enough this week, Kylie also started a music class at the University of Redlands. So her and I got up and out the door this morning to join one other little boy (Zander), his mommy and the teacher Teresa. The class was about 35 minutes long and included singing, clapping and playing with some percussion instruments (shakers, bells, wooden sticks). Kylie was not so sure about the new environment at first, but in no time at all she was smiling and hitting her wooden sticks together, having a great time, until Miss Teresa needed to put them away, then Kylie threw a little fit. The fit was over as soon as she realized that the next percussion instrument was on its way over :o) The class will go for another 10 weeks (I think), so I am excited to see how she does once she gets in the routine. She enjoys music and movement so much that I think she is going to have a great time.

This afternoon we enjoyed the beautiful weather (75 degrees) while we played outside and took a walk. Kylie took a nice long nap and when she woke up Auntie Melissa came down to play. Kylie decided that it was time to practice her new walking skills in the living room, so what did we do? We woke up Craig! (Luckily he was about to get up anyway) So Kylie practiced walking between the three of us, her max was about 12 steps (of course we didn't get it on video :o( but we did capture a few other attempts). Then we headed out for a family trip to Lowes for some supplies for Kylies birthday, then to downtown Redlands for a quick little visit to the dance studio. We made it home and Kylie and I played while daddy made an amazing dinner. Tonight Kylie had fish (which she loves), sweet potatoes and peas (whole peas, she loves picking them up and poppin them in). She ate so much, all that walking must be burning extra calories. She took a bath then we all settled in for a bed time story and sleepy time...oh wait, did the front door just open...Auntie Melissa is home? Up pops Kylie's little head, she squeals and tries to crawl off the bed ASAP. So much for bed time, so we all get up and spent some family time in the living room, Kylie had a late night snack, then back to bed. She still falls asleep nursing (doing her gymNURSEtics most of the time), but eventually I am able to sneak away and attend to the house and blog. Tonight she was not so found of me trying to sneak away and Craig had decided to "rest" with us while I was nursing her to sleep. He was out within seconds of his head hitting the pillow :o) So I finally got away, woke up Craig so he could get ready for bed and now that the blog is almost done, I am contemplating whether or not I have the energy to clean this house, it might just have to wait until tomorrow, it's not every night that I get to snuggle both the loves of my life :o)

More to come soon,
Natalie

P.S. I was thinking about this time last year, I was already two days past my due date and secretly hoping the baby would come on leap year. Deep down I could tell I was not ready to go in to labor yet, I was still to comfortable, but who would have known it would still be 10 days. Our friends Jon and Raquel are due March 6th, it would be fun if Kylie had a birthday buddy, but my guess is that baby Alexander may continue to cook a little longer, first babies tend to do that :o)
Yesterday Kylie got to push a new toy at the Great-Grandparents house, she also got to meet a new baby doll, and she loved it!
 Kylie eating yesterday...

Sitting at the University of Redlands after her first music class (she is holding her "purse" over her shoulder).

We got to see Michelle for a moment today, Kylie is very in to giving hugs. Kylie hugged Michelle and the babysitter (also named Kylie) multiple times, she even gave a few prolonged hugs where she rested her head on Michelle's shoulder, Michelle was not thrilled, but seemed to tolerate Kylie :o)

Michelle is 9 months old, both these girls are going to be tall, we might need to start a neighborhood volleyball team :o)

Kylie also pulled at her outfit as if to say "Ya I think I would like to borrow this."
