The rain is still falling, but that isn't stopping any little people around here from growing up. I actually think the rain is making her grow faster, you know, like a tree. A little rain, then some sunshine, and voila! the recipe for one tall baby. No, no, no! please. no fertilizer. She is growing like a weed already.
As we close in on this epic milestone (not Declaration of Independence epic, but close), we can't help but think a couple things (can you smell it? The sweet aroma of nostalgia, rolling in). The first is so unoriginally obvious that I shouldn't write it, but...I...just...can't...stop....myself. Thought one: We can't believe that a year ago on this date we were two single people without a baby (where has the time gone?)! There! I said it! Now. thought two. Kylie has changed so many lives this past year (Nat and I almost can't remember what life B.K. was like), and yet, she is completely oblivious to it all. Thought three: She has no idea that she will be 1 tomorrow. We have all anticipated this day for so long, but for her, she is clueless (not in a bad blonde joke kind of way). She will wake up tomorrow ready to start another day of adventuring, playing, reading, and eating. Lol! Boy is she in for a treat...or will it be a trick? hmmm...
Nat had a nice moment this morning, as her friend Raquel delivered a brand new baby boy (Alexander). Sure it's nice that the baby was born (sorry Kylie. Just missed having a birthday buddy), but the really fun part (for Nat), was getting to be there as Raquel labored and delivered. It brought back so many emotions and memories from what Nat was doing a year ago on this same day. Little Kylie May (we thought for sure she was a boy) was working her way out of Nat's tummy just like baby Alexander did this morning. What a fun experience (Not for Raquel...she was the one having the contractions).
As I wind it down I'll take just a minute...I mean a sentence, to say, Thank you Kylie May for all the many priceless memories you gave us this past year. We are so proud of you, and look forward to all the crazy moments that come with year two. What does happen in year two anyway? Talking? Really? Between Chatty Kathy-Kylie and Nat I may never get another word in again. I guess I'll just learn to master the lost (somewhere in the diaper bag I'm sure) art of the "smile and nod".
I'll leave with this; A list of Kylie's current "favorites"
more to come soon,
Craig
