Birthday wishes for the little Kylie May!

Everyone knows (while anyone who has ever read a book anyway), that if you want people to keep reading you have to end the chapter with a bang.  That's what happened today.  The clouds parted, the sun came out, and we had a party.  A group of people all showed up to celebrate the birth of our animated little entertainer, but there was one problem. Kylie wasn't there.  Yep. She fell asleep about ten minutes before the party started and spent the first hour sleeping over at grandma Carol's house.  That's OK.  We waited for her....just like one pig waits for another.  :-)

No first birthday would be complete without a cake smash (or in Kylie's case, a cake touch).  Luckily for us, (and Niels who baked the delicious cake) our clean queen did give the cake a token touch and lick.  It wasn't the smash that the masses wanted, but it was something.  Thanks for humoring us little munchkin.

Here are some Birthday wishes for Mayday.

Happy Birthday Kylie May!
We are so excited that we got to spend your first birthday with you!  You are such an adorable, energetic, sweet little girl.  Liam is so lucky to have you for a cousin and a play pal!  Can't wait for the next birthday bash!
Love,

Happy Birthday Kylie! I hope you eat lots of cake today! And it's your birthday so you can cry if you want to.  love the Raine, Sunny, Sky, Marisa and Niels:)

Happy Birthday my little Kylie Bear! I love you so much and am so glad I got to be here today for your birthday and one year ago today when you came into our lives. One of my favorite memories of you in this past year was during one of your visits to Porterville for my graduation. You were just a few months old and you were laying down on the living room floor with your daddy. He was trying to refresh his memory on how to count to ten in sign language and you bust up into the cutest belly laugh I ever did hear when you saw it. It was hilarious and we all sat around watching you crack up at your daddy. Then today I was holding you and I started doing a little "tango" with you and bust out that adorable laugh again and it just made me so happy to know you. I love you!

Happy Birthday Sweet Baby Kylie!

I absolutely cannot believe you are one year old already. You have been such a joy in my life this past year, and I so look forward to seeing your grow up. Your birthday party today was amazing. It was camping themed, and so many people came to celebrate YOU and your life. Everyone that was here absolutely adores you and everyone enjoyed the party. The decorations were very festive and fun, and I'm sure you will want a recreation of it when you will be able to remember it. I look forward to all of the adventures we will share together some day. I love you Kylie May!

Happy 1st Birthday!!

Hi Miss May...I can't believe we've been living together for a year now! This past year has been one of the most amazing years of my life, watching you grow and change and gain such an incredible personality. You've taught me so much and I'm so thankful we've been able to form such a close bond. Regardless of how my day has gone, I know I can come home to you and your smile and instantly feel a million times better :) There really is nothing like raising a child, and I'm realizing this every day your in my life. Looking forward to sharing more memories with you and celebrating many more birthdays to come! You are my star! Love you more than you will ever know,
Auntie Lissa (Melissa)

Just wanted to email you to let you know I have been reading Kylie's blog since she was born!  I remember being at Outback for several weeks in a row (on Tuesdays or Wednesdays, right!?) and anxiously awaiting news that she was born.  I think Veronica let me know you had a blog. I immediately added it to my GoogleReader feed and have followed ever since.  Greg and I have loved seeing the pictures of Kylie since her birth and although we've never actually met her in person, it seems like I know that little girl! :)  We love to see our friends show up on your blog -- especially Dr. K (Uh.. I think we are ultimately responsible for you seeing him!  We introduced him to Neils way back when!) and Neils, Marisa and family. Love those pictures from Porterville, too! Central valley, represent!! :)  We even discovered we have a link to you, through Kylie, that we didn't know about!  One night while enjoying our soup at Benjarong, we were talking to our favorite bartender and discovered that he was Kylie's friend Tim and we met Cathy, too!  We joked about what will happen after she turns 1 and we won't have the blog to know what's going on with her anymore… So sad! :(

Your dear readers --

Stephanie & Greg

Dear Kylie,

Wow! How is it possible for a year to have gone by so quickly. Last year on March 9th I was sitting at the computer at work clicking the refresh button as fast as I could waiting to see the words I had been waiting to see for 9 months, "The baby is here, and it's a GIRL". My life changed that day because I became your auntie, and what a special privilege that is. This past year the blog has allowed Uncle Mike and I a window into your life from 3,000 miles away and we have loved it. We have loved reading about all of your first's; from your first bath time, to your first taste of solid foods and most recently to your first steps. As you turn one and the blog comes to a close we will miss being able to read about your adventures everyday. We will cherish, and look forward to the times when we get to talk to you and see you. You bring us so much joy Kylie May! We love you very very much!

Love,

Auntie Jill and Uncle Mike

Kylie,
Since I don't get to see you often enough I have to follow a blog that your wonderful parents write everyday. You see it is about this amazing smiley little girl that comes from so much love! One day when you are old enough I would love to share with you the place of love you that you come from... And that is the journey of your amazing parents. Because of their amazing story you will learn just what you, Miss May are made of! I started writing this when you were in your mommy's tummy but could never finish what I wanted to say without having met you yet or shedding a tear of happiness, so here goes the beginning of my letter to you...

Your mom and dad had to climb some pretty big mountains before you came along and lucky for all of us they are some pretty good hikers. You see little one, your parents have had some pretty heartfelt journeys to go through before finding their correct path. While all the rest of knew and believed their trails would meet again they didn't always know what the rest of us did...and that was, they are strong, they are soul mates and they are made up of everything that is good in this world! And because of their strength and love for each other, they brought us perfect little you!

Kylie, I am sure by the time you are able to read this you will have discovered what special powers your parents have, and have passed on to you. You see, they have always had this ability to light up a room just by walking in to it... just as you do! They turn every frown upside down just as you can! They have more love for each other, and love for you than most people will ever know is possible.  In the same way,  you have shown plenty of others your love in the 365 days you've been here with us. And just like your mommy and daddy,  you heal hearts with a Johnson hug! They are truly powerful so use that power wisely.
You are a Johnson natural Kylie May, you have the strength to do anything you believe in, you have the smile as bright as the sun, and the love bigger than the moon, just like both your wonderful parents. And just like them, you hold a special place in my heart.
It has been amazing to watch you grow, a true gift to spend time with you, and a complete joy to be a part of yours and your mommy and daddy's journey!
HAPPY 1st BIRTHDAY KYLIE MAY JOHNSON!

Tricia

Dear Baby Girl,
I can't believe today is your first birthday! We had such a wonderful birthday party for you today. You were surrounded by so many friends and so much love, here are a few photos of "Camp Kylie."
Happy 1st birthday to my Beautiful Daughter.
Love, Mommy

It's a little intimidating having so many people singing Happy Birthday at the same time.

Although the wind technically blew out her candle, Kylie has been practicing all week and knew just what to do.

Thank you to everyone for the wonderful girts!

Post birthday nap

As Uncle Kyle said "It's like the Berinstain Bears and Too Much Birthday." Craig took a two hour nap once the party died down, glad he got good use out of our tents :o)
