Kylie May Gets Stuck Inside. Day 363

The race is on! It's not your typical tortoise and the hare style either.  It's more along the lines of Usain Bolt, Tyson Gay, and Yohan Blake sprinting from start to finish.  This race, however, is more legendary than any Olympic sprint.  It's the showdown between Mother Nature and Time. Unfortunately, at this very moment, it doesn't look like either one is on our side.  One more day until our little papoose has her birthday, and we'll just continue to sit here with our fingers, legs, arms, and toes crossed that the weather clears up by Saturday.

Since the rain was coming down our little outdoor adventurer spent the day indoors.  That doesn't mean she didn't have her fair share of adventures, it just meant that they all happened under a roof.  She spent the morning tumbling around at Gymboree and getting in touch with her inner musician at music class.  I slept through both (only because I worked last night, not because I was bored), but Kylie told me da ja da da ba (loosely translated to "both of them were really really fun").  The funny thing for me is that Kylie's favorite part of Gymboree is playing with all the balls and her favorite part of music is clicking together the sticks with bells on the end.  Hmmm....sounds like we might be able to save ourselves some money by buying a ball, gathering some sticks, and rummaging up an old Christmas bell.  But it's the experience right?

Attending a "Bare Foot Mammas" group (with her shoed mamma) is how the 11.9 month old spent her evening. Guess what she did there? She chased around all the kids (there was a bunch) trying to give them hugs.  I think she gravitated to once little 4 year old in particular.  Our little affectionate hostess was driven to whining and complaining by the fact that the little girl refused to reciprocate Kylie's hugs.  She reached her arms out wide and when the little friend did not hug her Kylie laid her head on the floor and started whining.  We think there are probably worse things she could be complaining about.

Now, Nat is off to help encourage Raquel (her friend from the dance studio) to deliver a baby and I'm off to keep building birthday decorations.

more to come soon,

Craig

p.s. In 2 days our Kylie May turns one year old.  We can't believe it.  Unfortunately, it also means the winding down of the blog. :-( Since we look forward to sharing it with our little busy bee someday, Nat and I wanted to extend an invitation.  There have been so many of you that have read and followed this crazy saga over the last year, and we think it would be fun if you shared some of your thoughts, memories, anecdotes, opinions, or anything else you want, so that one day (when she actually learns to read) she can see the people that watched (in blog land) as her first year of life unfolded.  It would be great if you emailed a little something to Nat or I and then we can attach a compilation to her last big blog entry next week. Thanks!

It's a lonely road, but one that has to be traveled.

step 1: Make direct eye contact

step 2: advance for the hug
step 3: if they resist, tackle them first and then hug.

It's Your lucky day. The hug patrol is here

Kylie: "Listen little girl. This is going to work a lot better if you just cooperate and give me a little hug."
