300 Days! I don't know if I believe it yet. Have 300 days really passed since our little soybean shed her shell? Honestly, if I hadn't been here for all of them I might not believe it. Sure, there are some nights when it feels like 600 days, but overall the time has just flown by. Nat and I marvel so much at Kylie's growth and development over the last 10 months. To think our little full spirited tazmanian devil was only the size of a pinpoint 19 months ago, blows our minds.
For fear of making her feel old Nat and I refrained from reminding Kylie how old she was today. Instead, we carried on, business as usual (You know, like adults do when it's their birthday). That meant both mini me and I recovering from our Nat-less night (we actually did really well last night). It also meant Nat trying to get a wink of sleep before reentering the chaotic orbit of parenting. Luckily Papa Gene came to the rescue and watched Mayday for a few hours this morning. Sometimes we wouldn't trade that extra hour of precious sleep for all the money in the world.
Kylie rounded out her 300th day by enjoying a royal feast (so we told her). Lentils, peas, sweet potatos, yams (I've been told there's a difference), Cheerios, and a blueberry dessert filled her belly for the night of sleep ahead. Bedtime didn't arrive though, without a relaxing bath. With the right tub toy (usually an old wash cloth), she acts like a mermaid in an ocean full of mermen. She could stay there forever. We have come along way from her first tub experience (mostly three sets of crying eyes). Tomorrow, she'll wake up, a day older, rearing to pick up right where she left off. We'll rub our sleep eyes, smile, pick her up, and start the whirlwind all over....trying to cherish every one of the fleeting moments she gives us.
more to come soon,
Craig
