The worst part of the holidays is the ending. With a frown on her face, Kylie experienced the post holiday cleanup blues. She actually had fun taking the ornaments off the trees...until she realized that they weren't going back on, and in fact, there wasn't even a tree to house the ornaments. I'm sure she thought a tree was certain to become a permanent fixture in this little old living room of ours. Sorry little one, maybe we can talk Nat into a nice January fern to garnish our house.
We did pack the Christmas ornaments, but the saving grace seems to be that house got redecorated with all of Kylie cakes new toys. The front room is now a 10-month old's dream zone (well, maybe a small day dream) and she loves it. The play mat that her country grandpa and grandma got really seems to be one of her favorite additions. The mat looks the same as it did at grandma and grandpas, except for one thing....the cheering squad that comes with it is missing. She has spent the last couple days looking for all her aunties and uncles that so closely shadowed her for the last week. Case and Point: Kylie sits on the floor alone, starts clapping, looks up with a big smile and anticipates the cheer that will come from her entourage. The smile turns to disappointment though when she realizes she has no audience. Nat and I do our best, but it just isn't the same. We remind her that she will see them all soon. She almost seems to get it, but usually ends up spotting a stray Cheerio on the floor which steals her interest. :-) If only it were that easy when Nat is gone all night.
Speaking of which, tonight is a Kylie and dad night so we are batoning down the hatches, storing a supply of water and canned food, and trying to survive the night. We'll see how it goes.
more to come soon,
Craig
