Coopie's family at play kind of day

In a world that runs on nano seconds it is nice to slow things down once in a while.   Nat and I often find ourselves so busy (we just want to fit in with all the rest of the crazy hustle and bustle out there) that a day with nothing going on is a bit alarming.  Like the "did we just miss the rapture and the world has ended" kind of feeling.  Today was that day.  Luckily the world is still on it's axis and we found a way to enjoy a fun family day.

Kylie, as usual, had a fabulous time dancing, singing, and playing with Shelby (the service dog) at church today.  Coop dressed to impress (gray onsie with suspenders and a bow tie printed on the front) and charmed the socks off anyone who is into the baby sort of thing.  He does a pretty good impression of a cute little two month old.  People eat it up.

This afternoon the Coopster and I had a great father son heart to heart.  As is often true of these types of conversations, the dad (me) did all the talking while the son (Coop) laid there fast asleep.  I'm just preparing myself for the teenage years.  Actually, it was a great sleep day for the young British lad. As long as he was held he was happy as a clam (not sure how happy that actually is, but that's how the saying goes so cut me some slack).  And boy did he ever sleep today.  I have the carpal tunnel to prove it.  Just because he is young doesn't mean he is light.  It is amazing to me how the body and mind work.  If you told me to stand there and hold a 15 pound watermelon for 3 hours I would last...hmmm...maybe three minutes.  When it's your 15 pound baby though aching shoulders, numb fingers,  and sore backs don't even matter. You just keeping bouncing, swaying, and rocking while that innocent little babe slumbers.

Tonight "Hairspray" was cancelled again because the Redlands Bowl got turned into the Redlands fish Bowl. Yep. the torrential down pour pretty much ended any chance of an outdoor performance tonight.  It was ok though because we got to have a fun family dinner, and the kids enjoy some bubble bath time.  Cooper seems to love bath time.  I think if we asked him, and he got over his shy spell and spoke to us, he would say that bath time is probably his all time favorite activity...ever.  He kicks, splashes, and plays till there's nothing left in em.

Now comes the serenest part of the day.  The part where we stop talking and hear.....nothing.  The kids are both asleep and Nat and I will savor the nothingness for just about an hour before our eyes are so heavy we could swear someone spiked the water at dinner.

More to come soon,

Craig

Even Coop enjoys getting in on the funny face pictures these days

What!? Eat my sister? Where in the world would you get a crazy idea like that?

All that tryptophan makes it impossible to get through these self help videos
Kylie was scared.  Cooper was intrigued. Nat and I were soaking wet.  Just your typical once every 10 years flash flood in August.
