Ain't nothin' like the real thing baby! Those are Cooper's sentiments. So wise and so young. Master Yoda would have liked this pad wan. ( Use your best Yoda voice ) "Metechlorine count is high with this one". Just because something looks like the real thing doesn't mean it works like it. And in Cooper's case it doesn't even pass the eyeball test. Anyone in the market for making some real money just needs to create a more authentic replica of the nanni (that's how it is referred to around here). It is 2014 after all and if they can do it for the Fockers then they surely must be able to do it in real life. Can't you see Leslie Nielsen now. "No they can't! And don't call me Surely." Not that I want to be the one wearing that thing around, but if KB homes can find a guy to stand on a street corner in a statue of liberty outfit when it's 110 degrees outside, I"m sure I can find someone to wear the fake nanni and nurse my child. Just saying.
Anyway. all the above nonsense to say that Coop had his first experience with the bottle today. Nat had to do a photo shoot this afternoon but before she left we made a quick stop by David Koresh's Koolaid stand and then decided it would be a decent idea to keep the mini coop while she was gone. As luck would have it (the extremely sarcastic kind of luck of course) Nat's one hour shoot turned into 3 hours. Luckily we had the whole armada here (Ama, Papa, Marta, and myself) so with 4 adults and 2 children we liked our chances. Nonetheless three hours was too long for little Bruce Banner so our hands were tied. RELEASE THE BABA! Coop did give it the ole college try but after two different bottles and whole bunch of choking, spitting, sputtering, and sucking we resigned ourselves to the fact that there just ain't nothin' like the real thing baby. We did get about an ounce or two down, but that was on luck and sheer determination. It ended up being just enough to hold him over until the mama arrived and when she got home I think I felt the collective blood pressure drop throughout the house.
Tonight we had a fun dinner date with Britney (our old Bradley instructor), her husband Brian, and their three boys. It was fun watching the boys interact with Kylie. They all had a fun conversation about Kylie's artwork hanging on the wall. Christian (4 years old) "Kylie. Did you paint that picture?" Kylie (2 years old). "Yeah. I painted all of them (pointing to all 6 or 7). That one's called "Harry Armpit"" Then they both started laughing. It was one of those priceless moments that goes into the long term memory account. Coop was happy sitting back and watching all the chaos unfold before his eyes. Learning a thing or two, I'm sure, and biding his time, till he causes some chaos of his own.
more to come soon,
Craig
Kylie wanted to sleep in the guestroom again, I nursed them both to sleep then slipped away to finish dishes.
Daddy has been making Kylie little houses with the couch cushions lately, she has little "parties" in there with all her animals. Tonight's party consisted of drinks for everyone, a "firework" show and story time, needless to say she was sad when the party had to end and it was time for bed.
Eating dinner and admiring art work.
