Tom Hanks had Wilson, and Kylie May had her cruise ship with 5,000 people. What's the relationship? Well both Kylie and Tom had companions as they spent a day floating around in the middle of the ocean. It was a day at sea, and just what the doctor (or two nurses) ordered for our tired little sailor. She definitely needed a day of R and R, which is exactly what a sea day provided. She must have spent 3/4 or more of the day stowed away, sleeping in our room, but with so much travel the last few days she couldn't pass on the opportunity. I, for one, have no qualms with the fact that she took so much sleep time. It meant that I, also got to catch up on some much needed shut eye.
The wakeful hours, were chalked full of dancing (Nat got to teach a lesson), eating, playing, pooping (she is battling a bout of diarrhea the last day or so), and dressing up. Tonight was formal night, and if there is one thing Kylie loves, it's dawning the duds and showing off for a formal night. We had another great dinner with Tricia, Randy, Cathy, and Tim in which Kylie just chomped away on a raw carrot (our waiter had two waiting for us tonight when we sat down) as we all laughed and chit chatted. Surprise Surprise by the end of dinner Kylie was sleepy, so Nat and Kylie headed down to the brigg as I went upstairs to watch the big screen under the stars (first half of the Broncos/Steelers game). It was pretty fun to be sitting in the middle of the ocean watching a football game under the stars.
two moments of reflection. Kylie is obviously not feeling well the last couple days, but boy is she a trooper. The one caveat to being the youngest person on the ship, is that everyone notices that you are the youngest on the ship. And, as such, they all want to come and say hi to the youngest person in the room. In the last 2 days Kylie must have talked to over 500 people (and I'm pretty sure she has only really know about 10). She is amazing though. She just gives everyone her sheepish little grin and is a pleasant as can be. This last week, however, she has started giving new people her "shy girl " routine. Anytime she sees someone new she smiles at them, as she tucks her head into me or Nat's chest. The stranger anxiety is beginning, but for now it is really cute.
The other thing we have really noticed on this trip is that Kylie LOVES music and live bands. We have been walking around the ship on multiple occasions and seen Kylie just light up any time we pass by live music. Her legs start kicking a mile a minute (in rhythm to the music of course) and she start smiling and squealing like nobodies business. It is hilarious. She truly is her mother's child.
Off to sleep away the rest of this little ones 6-month birthday because a big day in Halifax Nova Scotia awaits.
more to come soon,
Craig
p.s. sorry no pictures but we haven't found away to transfer from ipad to blog.
Y'all are nurses so I'm sure you know this, but we have found with Barrett that he runs a low grade fever and has very "loose" diapers when teeth are cutting. Could be due to the new pearly whites your sweet girl is aquiring. Hope she's feeling back up to par soon and glad she's still enjoying her days at sea!
