They (once again the man behind the curtain) say that prepping is the hardest part. Hmmm...now that I think about it, I guess there is some rhyme to that reason. Today Kylie found out all about how hard prepping can be. Prepping for what? you might ask. Well, that is an excellent question, for which, the answer of course, is, a lot of things. This morning and afternoon we had a myriad of visitors, all whom discussed the importance and need for preparation.
The early crew included Gpa Gene and his friend Jim (who are helping us fix up our back yard carriage house). the came over to "prep" everything so that they could work on installing some much needed electricity (candles and oil lamps were getting too expensive). Lesson #1: Preparation is good in installing electricity.
The middle morning crew primarily consisted of Gma Carol and Auntie Melissa. These two, along with Natalie have been working at rearranging and repainting the upstairs attic/mini apartment. Before they cold begin the full on painting process, however, you guessed it. They needed to prep the upstairs space. If it hadn't been so hot, mighty mouse might have paid attention and learned a little bit more. Lesson #2: Preparation is good before painting.
Finally, the late afternoon/dinner crew arrived (Our friends Tim and Cathy Lucia). They wanted to come over to discuss final "preparations" for our upcoming East Coast vacation. We had to finalize overnight stays, shore excursions, flight itineraries, etc. Kylie was really baffled by all the detail put into these arrangements, but she went along with them anyway. Lesson # 3: Preparation is good before going on a big trip.
As parents, we have been told that we are charged with instilling positive values and strong morals in our children. Since boy scouts wouldn't accept a little young lady, and she is too young for girl scouts we decided that today should be a practical lesson on being prepared. And it was.
tomorrow will be all about putting your preparation into action.
more to come soon,
-Craig-
