Kylie May sets sail from NY day 184

blogs

Blogging while cruising...now if ever there was a hinderance to our ability to update Kylie's blog every day a cruise to New England and Canada would should be the stumbling block.  As it turns out, however, the high seas are no match for all those high in the sky satellites that relay internet signals.  As they say in show business (or really anywhere now, because it seems that this phrase has been adopted by everyone) "The show (blogging) must go on."

The quick gist.  The three of us are pretty tired, but we are on the ship. :-) Kylie is having way too much fun, even though she had a small fever of 100.4 this afternoon.  A little tylenol, a few naps, and a whole bunch of nursing seemed to keep her in relatively high spirits though. That little girl is amazing.  Even with a temperature, she only fussed a tiny bit, but for the most part, was nothing but coos, pterodactyl squeals, and smiles.  We feel lucky to have such a happy baby.

The big question on our mind, before the cruise, was how are we going to get through a semi, mildly formal dinner every night with a  6 month old that wants to eat everything in sight?  During the middle of our first meal the answer arrived.  Corn on the cob came with a couple of the meals, and that was just the answer we needed.  After a 20 minute nap to begin dinner and a corn cob to keep her busy the rest of the way, dinner was anti climatic.  The funny part is this.  There are six of us plus Kylie in our party and we have the same table saved for us every night.  In a very crowded dining room where is this table? the back corner of the restaurant with nothing but 10 empty tables all around us.  Have they had babies on board before?  Affirmative!

To top off the evening Kylie got to go do some good ole country dancing after her fine white table cloth dining.  What a fun experience.  We don't have photos, but a thousand words (or maybe fifty) can almost paint the picture. Dark dance room, big dance floor,  100 people from the group we are here with, DJ, country music, and Kylie strapped to my back in her carrier as Nat and I two step around the dance floor.  She got introduced by our host, and was really the life of this party (surprise, surprise).  We stayed and danced for as long as Kylie was kicking her legs, smiling, and squealing, then day 1 was done.  We are at sea all day tomorrow and looking forward to some serious relaxation time.  Who knows what kind of fun the little Mayday will have exploring the big boat.

more to come soon,

Craig
