Kylie Update

We have had a couple busy days, I had to work both Friday and Sunday night, so needless to say we all had a little bit of a rough weekend. My parents are out of town (Hawaii for mom's work) and Melissa just started a new school quarter (OB and Peds class, she better get good grads considering she lives with OB and Peds nurses!). After having a busy play day on Friday, Kylie and her daddy survived the night. On Saturday we spent a little time together before they headed down to watch the Bicycle Classic in Downtown Redlands and I took a quick nap. When they came back and I got up, Kylie and I headed to Jackson's First Birthday Party! It was at a wonderful park in Yucaipa. We enjoyed a delicious lunch, yummy cupcakes and lots of running around the playground with other kids. There was even a big (more like huge) "bow wow." I tried to get a photo of Kylie next to him, but she was a little intimidated, understandably so, this dog was 160lbs and taller then me on his hind legs,  hands down the biggest dog I have ever seen.

We came home and took a nap then decided to walk back downtown and watch more races. The mens professional criterium was happening, it is a 90min race that loops through downtown. The whole loop takes about 30-35seconds to complete, and there are a couple hundred men racing. They all ride so fast and so close to each other, it is really exciting to watch. We met up with Kerry and Kylie and enjoyed a snack and the race. We love being able to walk to amazing events in Redlands, it is this time of year that we really start to appreciate where we live.

Sunday we got up and headed to church, Kylie played with the kids in the nursery, Craig taught the school aged kids and I got to enjoy the guest speaker. We came home, nap time for me and Kylie, then we got to go to another party. Yep, this time Kylie and I got to go to a baby shower for a friend of ours from church. I was lucky enough to take some maternity photos for her recently, it was really fun. So we showered her, and Craig went to play Frisbee golf with all the other husbands. The Craig headed to play some football with Kyle. I went to work while Melissa watched Kylie for about an hour until Craig got home then the rest is history.

I realize that this was more of a recap of Craig and I then Kylie, oops, so here are a few things our little one is up to these days... She is starting to utilize her walking skills more and more. She still sometimes comes seeking a finger to hold, but for the most part she is just up and walking all over the house. She has a little pull toy pony she drags around and she also likes pushing her stroller. She is babbling a lot and is very clear with her "yes, no, bow wow, ball, dada, eyes and nanana" (which is her way of saying she wants to nurse). She is very demanding and opinionated and does a great job of communicating clearly. We just have problems when she communicates that she wants to hold a very sharp knife because she sees mommy and daddy using it in the kitchen, or that she wants to climb the stairs to Melissas room then try to come down them all by herself. We are working to child proof so we don't have to tell her "no" but sometimes we have to, and she is not happy about it. Today she grabbed my phone and started walking around the house, phone to her ear, talking up a storm. She even took little pauses as if she was listening to someones response. She is such a sponge, it is amazing how much she imitates us, we better be careful :o) She is eating a lot these days, we have been much more relaxed about what we give her now that she is over 1 and she does a really god job letting us know what she can manage.

I got a new camera lens, just like the one I was borrowing. It is amazing! I can't wait to learn more about it. Ok that's all for now, good night.

I love the sweaty, curly hair when she just wakes up from a nap.

We have been doing some rearranging, Kylie's "room" is now all the way in the back with a fun play corner, we were running out of room for all her toys in the living room.

Jackson at his birthday party.

He kept walking up to her then turning around, this time he actually tried to sit on her.

It didnt work out so well, they both took a little tumble and Kylie was not happy about it.

Although she doesn't seem thrilled to be on the swing, she actually loved it and didn't want to get out.

"Jax are you sure you want to ride this thing?"

Enjoying a pickle and watching the race.

She would clap when they rode by, so cute.

Kerry, Kyle and the "bow wow's"

Walking home after the races.
