I have continued to have a handful of contractions over the past couple weeks, but nothing that is painful or as frequent as it was a few weeks ago. I am still suffering with my varicose veins and some swelling that is uncomfortable. The baby has officially turned head down, it now its with its back on my right side and I have a foot that frequently stretches out on my left. It feels a lot like Kylie did, but this baby feels like it is a little bit higher, I feel its butt and foot stretching up and touching my ribs, which I never experienced with Kylie. I am starting to feel more comfortable when I waddle and my back is often sore when wake up in the morning.I can now hear the baby's heartbeat with my stethoscope (and actually let my students listen to it last week during clinical, they were all very excited). The baby gets hiccups almost every day which is fun and weird to feel.
Last Saturday we had our home visit with Karen. She re-familiarized herself with our house and we talked through our plan if the baby came before she was able to make it. Kylie was very excited about Karens visit and enjoyed showing her all the toys and the horse couch. Karen also brought a birth pool, we still need to pump it up to make sure it doesn't have any holes, but that might be a project for tomorrow. We attended our 37 week apt at Karen's house this afternoon. Everything is still going well, for a while I was dehydrated, but that doesn't seem to be an issue anymore, my wight today was 175lbs, wow, up about 35lbs from when I got pregnant, I expect to gain a little more over the next few weeks considering this is when the baby starts to put on the pounds. Kylie got to hold the doppler again, it is her favorite part, her little face just lights up when she hears the heartbeat, it is so fun!
A couple days ago Kylie told me all the things she was going to do to help with the baby, "change diaper, change clothes, help burp the baby, hold the baby and sing to the baby." I am getting more and more excited to see her with her new brother or sister. Kylie has been telling me the baby is a girl for my whole pregnancy, but about 4 days ago she changed her mind and insisted that the baby is a boy. Just today she changed her mind again. I have had two dreams it is a boy and one that it is a girl, my mom had a dream recently that I birthed quickly in the middle of the night and Karen didn't even make it, the baby was a girl. The Chinese calendar says Kylie was supposed to be a girl and this baby will be a boy, but only time will tell.
I have received two wonderful gifts for this new baby, a beautiful green woven wrap from Tabitha and a vibrant orange home-made ring sling from Liz. I am so excited about both of these carriers, they complete my collection, now we literally have one of every kind, so fun!!!!! Liz also made a little mini ring sling for Kylie to use with her baby dolls, it is so cute. Kylie and I took a trip last week to visit Liz and Zachary. We spent two days with them and enjoyed a trip to the park, the beach and a music class at a consignment store. Zachary is getting so big, Kylie loved playing with him and of course loved chasing the two cats, Bella and Sarah. Kylie is still nursing like crazy. Last night she actually nursed for almost the entire night, she has a little bit of a cold and I think her throat might have been bugging her, but it was a rough night. She wanted to be up walking and in the rocking chair, we ended up getting our longest stretch of about 1.5 hours at 6 this morning. Needless to say we are all a little sleepy today.
Melissa moved out a couple days ago :o( She moved into a cute little apartment just about 3 blocks away, we hope we will still see her often, but it will not be the same without her here. Craig and I have only had one other short time in our lives when we didn't have an additional roommate. About a week between when Kyle moved our and Melissa moved in, right before Kylie was born. It feels weird to not have someone else here and I really miss it on the evening Craig stays late at work. We are trying to get the upstairs arranged for our potential house guests when the baby arrives. We are also hoping to convince Quin and Lane to spend the summer with us, helping Kylie adjust to becoming a big sister.
This month is full of brithdays, we will be celebrating Portia turning 2 this weekend, we are planning to go to the YMCA circus. We are all looking forward to it and think the girls will have a great time.
I have been taking a lot of photos lately, maternity, gender reveal, newborn. It has been so fun, but now I am wondering who will take our photos :o) I would like to do maternity/family photos soon, just in case this baby decides to come on the full moon (Craig thinks it will) on the 14th.
Just realized I did not mention our trip to San Diego to watch the Giants play and our very fun Easter. Kylie got to participate in three different Easter egg hunts, wore two different Easter dresses and enjoyed just about every minute of her time at Auntie Jo's house. Here are a few photos :o)
More to come soon :o)
