And a quick Kylie update:
List of words Kylie is now saying;
mama, dada, papa, mimi, me, ball, book, park, eyes, walk, apple, nose, knee, ear, up, baby, dish (this is what she calls her baby Tido), yes, no, mike, josh, watch, doe...and more we can't think of.
Body parts she can point to; ears, eyes, head, hair, nose, mouth, tongue, teeth, shoulder, arm, elbow, tummy, leg, knee, foot and toes.
She is getting very good at walking, climbing and is almost running. She loves to sit in her little chair in the living room and "read" all the books in her bookshelf. She will pull one out, sit down, turn a few pages, get up and get another.
Kylie loves her water baby doll Tido. She insists on always taking his clothes off and wants to take him everywhere with her. This is a little bit of a problem when he has taken a bath with her and she wants to take him to bed, we have had a few rough nights and some tears when we have to leave Tido to dry. She also loves playing with balls and balloons. She also has this tendency to see how much she can hold in her arms while she walks around the house. One example from today, she had a penny in her hand, tido, a baby blanket, a purse, ball, and pretend syringe from her Dr. kit.
I made Kylie a little tutu out of the ribbon from Tim and Taylor's rehearsal dinner, she was not so sure about it.
For Craig and my 4th wedding anniversary we decided to take a little trip to Casino Morongo. We thought it through and came up with a great plan. Craig, Kylie, Quin, Melissa and I headed out to the Casino, we spent the day at the amazing pool (with great lazy river and kiddy pool), then we headed up to the 23 floor to our awesome suite. Melissa and Quin took Kylie to the buffet while Craig and I ate at the casino steakhouse up on the 25th floor. We had a delicious dinner, drinks and dessert before heading back to our room where we found our little one fast asleep and two aunties relaxing after a hard night of babysitting. The next morning we had a yummy dinner and it was back out to the pool for a little bit before heading home. Craig and I had such a wonderful evening, it was so nice to have a date night but still be so close to Kylie in case she needed us. We feel so lucky to have amazing sisters that we trust and that Kylie loves. Thank you again Melissa and Quin for joining us on our anniversary adventure.
A suite is not a suite without a big Jacuzzi bathtub.
enjoying the view from our room while enjoying her banana.
We headed home from the casino and with a lot of planning and a little lying, we were able to get Lane distracted while the rest of the family arrived and set up for Josh's proposal. It was a wonderful evening. Four years and one day after Craig and I exchanged our wedding vows, Josh and Lane got engaged in the same beautiful park. It was a beautiful proposal, we are so excited for them!
One of the many things we wanted to do this summer was swim lessons. We started a Mommy and Me class at the Drayson center last week. It is 30 min and the kids practice blowing bubbles and kicking. We sing songs and play games, at least we are supposed to...Kylie spends most of the class clinging to me like a monkey up a coconut tree. If I try to put her down she says "up, up, up" as she frantically tries to scramble back up her tree. She also seems to think that my bathing suit is simply an invitation to nurse whenever she feels the least bit thirsty, silly girl. We have attended the class three times now, these photos are from the first class when she actually participated a little. The most recent class she participated a little and even went under the water 3 times. She loves being in the water, especially in the shallow end of the pool where she can walk around. We will continue our classes and by the end we will at least hope she still enjoys the water.
After our first swing lesson (which is with a group of babies from church, btw) we spent the afternoon with friends from church, John and Tiffany, and their two little ones Wyatt and Bella. Wyatt is just a couple weeks old and Bella just turned one. Kylie really enjoyed playing Bella, she calls her "La La." Kylie was also very sweet with Wyatt, he was a little fussy and when he would cry Kylie would get very sad. Tiffany put Wyatt in a swing and he started to fuss, Kylie went over to the swing with the saddest look on her face, she didn't like to hear him so sad and she stayed close to him looking concerned until someone came and picked him up. Although we sometimes think Kylie is determined to be an only child, I think she will someday make a very good big sister.
Yes Kylie is only 3 months older then Bella, and yes she is more then a head taller.
The next day we had another play date. Craig and I took Bradly Birth classes when we were pregnant with Kylie and we have stayed in contact with our instructor Brittany. She brought her two boy, Christian and Jonathan over for a play date and we had so much fun.
She is tall enough to reach the door but still cant quite get it open, thank goodness :o)
Kisses from Jonathan.
A few days later we were lucky enough to be the first stop for Jill and Mike on their way from NY. They stayed with us for a couple days before heading down to San Diego. Kylie is talking quite a bit these days. She chose a name for Quin when she was here for the engagement, she calls her "Doe" and Kylie is very good at saying "Josh." We thought Jill would be an easy one for her to say, but instead she decided that she would remember "Mike" instead. She loves to make the "k" sound, she really exaggerates it, "MiKe." But she would not say Jill, or Lane for that matter, talk about breaking some Aunties hearts. She did, however, finally name Melissa. As you all know "MiMi" is Misheel next door, but now "Me" is for Melissa. Doesn't seem like it could be a noticeable difference, but it is clear as day. Melissa was so happy to finally have a name, now we just have to work on the other aunties and uncles.
Quick visit to Kerry and Kyles pool when the temp got over 100.
She still nurses all the time, this is how we nap a lot of the time. I love the time we spend together nursing, I would not trade it for the world. She has calmed down a little and does not do as much of the gymNURStics as she used to, but there are still times it feels more like a wrestling match.
Play date with Misheel at the park.
Below: new swimsuit for swim class at Drayson.
Grandma and Grandpa got Kylie this cute chair for the bowl and beach. We got to try it out this past Tuesday when we watched the young artists perform at the bowl.
Of course her wolf and baby had to come along.
A little taste of ice cream at intermission, yum. Kylie has only had a few tastes of ice cream, but I have a felling by the end of the summer it will be a few more.
Another first! She fell asleep at the bowl and I was actually able to lay her down in the wagon, we watched the rest of the performance and made it almost all the way home with her still asleep in the wagon, wow!!
Yesterday we took Kylie for her 15 month dr apt (just a little late). She is hitting all her developmental milestones, weighs in at 22.2 lbs (35%) and 33 inches (over 95%). She got two shots and a finger prick. It was not fun, the finger prick was not to bad until she saw the blood come out, she did not like that!
Happy 4th of July!
"Oh i'm so exhausted waiting for this parade to start."
She is almost running these days.
BBQ at Auntie Carolyn and Uncle Marty's house. Cousin Lyla and Jordan were in town visiting, it was so fun to have a three little ones together.
Lyla 13 months, Kylie almost 16 months, Liam almost 13 months
Swim time with Jordan (4 years old)
Kylie was not a big fan of the fireworks, but once we went inside the house it was not so noisy and she seemed to enjoy watching them from the window. Her favorite part was the glow bracelet she got to wear, she refused to take it off so she is sleeping with it on her wrist, at least it's easier to see her in the dark bedroom :o)
