Kylie May's First Halloween 237

With a little help (thanks again grandma and grandpa for the additions to our outfits) Kylie, Craig and I successfully completed our first family Halloween. Craig and I sported our farmer outfits while Kylie was just about the cutest cow ever! So what did Miss May do on her very first Halloween? Just about everything there is to do in Redlands on Halloween. At around 4 this afternoon (after she had woken from her second nap, yeah) we get ready and headed to downtown State Street. Why? you might ask, well just because it is the biggest "safe trick-or-treating" in the area. All of State Street is closed to cars and flooded with family's. The business on the street (Fox Dance Studio included) set up tables outside and kids (and others pretending they are still kids) come and trick-or-treat up and down the street. The event is from 3-5 and there is literally a non-stop line of kids trick-or-treating the entire time, it's wild. So of course Kylie was loving it. We sat in front of the dance studio and enjoyed seeing all the kids in their costumes.

One fun little surprise happened while we were there, we got to see our friend Emily and her twins, Tilly and Lulu. These little cuties were born very early (25 weeks I think) and are now 8 months old. I saw them when they were a couple weeks old and it is so amazing how well they are doing. We are hoping to get the girls together for a play date soon, Kylie is looking forward to it.

After the people watching (and a little dance watching for Kylie while Miguel and I practiced) we headed back to my parents. This is the first year they have been home for the trick-or-treat craziness that happens in down town. So after State Street trick-or-treating is done, Olive street is blocked off for the festivities to continue. And boy is it a party. Bands playing, people selling hot dogs, haunted houses to walk through, front yards decorated beyond belief and where was Kylie? You guessed it, sitting on my parents front porch soaking it all in! Craig headed to work while my mom, dad, Melissa, Kylie and I sat on the front porch and greeted the visitors. I had to go teach my line dance class, but I received the report that they had to turn out the light after they ran out of goodies (over 300 pieces of chocolate, pretzels and nuts). I had purchased candy to hand out at our house, but we never made it back there, anyone want 200 DumDum's?

Kylie took an evening nap with her grandma while I was teaching and woke when I get back, she then spent about two hours playing and talking and enjoying the company (Ty and Liz were over visiting). We finally made it home and in to bed pretty late, I am hoping she will sleep in a little bit tomorrow morning. I have been up trying to get us packed for our Oregon adventure, we leave tomorrow night from LAX.

It was a fun day for little Miss May, she really enjoyed watching all the kids in their costumes, she even seemed to enjoy wearing her little outfit too!

More to come soon,
Natalie

P.S. Can't believe I almost forgot to tell you about a couple firsts today. Kylie started clapping, she doesn't make any noise, but she brings her hands together over and over and looks pretty proud of herself. She also held on to our ottoman and balanced herself, she even took a few steps cruising along. She doesn't seem much closer to crawling but she is getting more and more steady on her feet, ahhhh we need to baby-prof this house ASAP!

My handsome farmer and very cute cow.
