Propellers? On a plane? That's what Kylie was asking (or at least we imagined her asking) last night when we got on our plane at LAX to come to Oregon. Yes. sweetheart. Don't worry. they'll keep us airborne. Oh yeah. and that's right...L...A...X. We had one big adventure getting to Medford, OR (thus the late blogging) but we are here safe and sound now. The drive into Los Angeles took slightly longer than expected, which led to this message from the friendly people of Alaskan Airlines: "Will passengers Melcher (grandma Carol) and Johnson party of two (everyone forgets about Kylie I guess) please report to gate 64A for immediate loading and departure." Whoops! It's a good thing we had Kylie when we boarded, otherwise I shudder to think of the faces that the already boarded sardines might have given us. They couldn't frown at a baby though. :-) The actual flght was smooth and easy, with the mini aviator playing for about 45 minutes and then sleeping for the last hour of the flight. We are really trying to enjoy these easy travel experiences while they last. We will soon be entering a much more "mobile Kylie" age, where I'm sure any flight longer than 10 minutes will be too long.
When we finally all piled out of the van (there were 8 of us....ah!....shades of my childhood) at midnight Kylie was wired. She didn't know if it was sleep time or play time, but she was happy nonetheless. When she did finally wind down (it took a while) she went down like a ton of bricks...and so did we. It will be an eventful weekend I'm sure, but we are glad that we get to be here to spend time with Nat's family.
more to come soon,
Craig

Her look says it all. "Mom?...Dad? Am I supposed to be awake or sleeping right now?" We aren't too sure sweetie. |
