17.5 Months old and using the big girl potty?! What's going on?!

Almost every night I tell myself "I should do a blog posting tonight" and obviously it doesn't happen. But the events of yesterday gave me more then enough of a reason to write. So here is a quick recap of the past few weeks...

Dinner date before the Fox Dance Performance, turns our Kylie loves salsa!

Every once in a while we decided to rotate and sleep sideways in the bed too, actually works out well.
We took a little trip to Victoria Gardens a couple weeks ago, Kylie brought her baby and pony and enjoyed doing some window shopping.
We also got to spend time with Samantha! Thanks for making the trip to see us, and thank you for the cute bows for Kylie's hair! Just today she asked for all three bows, she had me put them on her head then she said "Mantha" "cute." I couldn't believe that she remembered exactly what bows you gave her and your name, without any prompting! Smart girl!
Kylie got her first bike last week at Market Night. It is a balance bike, two wheels, no peddles, it teaches kids how to balance so they can easily transition to a big bike. She will start by just walking with it, she seems to like it and I'm sure she will get more comfortable with it in no time at all.
Story time at Barnes and Nobel, she is starting to enjoy the train table more.
The morning of 7 bows. She just kept saying "mo, mo"  until we got to 7, she was so proud of herself.
We really enjoyed going to the Bowl this year. Kylie continues to ask about it, but the last performance was last Friday. We packed up this wagon full and enjoyed a delicious dinner outside with Ama, Papa, Raquel, Jon and baby Alexander. It was a wonderful night with beautiful fireworks at the end of the show, Kylie loved it!
Mish walked us down to the end of the street.
We finally got to go to Gymboree last week, Kylie is getting more and more adventurous.
Showing off her strength by carrying this biggest ball in the whole room, silly girl.

Bubble time is still her favorite part.
Her friend Jackson loves gymboree too, "Hey Kylie you have a bubble in your hair."
 "Lean to the right"
The kids are supposed to be under the parachute, but Kylie would prefer to hold the edge like all the parents.
 Dance time
"Gymbo Kiss" on both feet after class. Kylie loves these little stamps and points to her feet the rest of the day.
Kylie and I decided to take a trip to Portorville this past weekend. Craig had to work 4 nights in a row (his last night shifts before he moves to days!!!!) so we decided we would let him enjoy an empty house while we went and spent some time with Do, Lala, Al, Ammy, Papa, Josh, Tim and Taytay.
Kylie found this little step stool in the bathroom and loved sitting on it. Of course she wanted company, so Do would come sit with her. She went into the bathroom about three times and on the third time I asked her if she wanted to go "pee pee on the big girl potty." She said yes so we went for it. I held her on the potty and we sang a little song ("Miss Sue" her new favorite little chant) and she went pee! We were all so excited! I couldn't believe it, she is only 17.5 months old! It's not potty training time! She seemed proud, but also acted like it was not that big a deal. Two other times in the same day (yesterday the 26th) she told me she needed to go pee pee and we put her on the potty, sang our little song, and sure enough she peed! We are home today and she has not been interested in going, but we will keep offering and see what happens, guess it's time to buy a little potty for her.
"Hiiiiiii" to the kitty. Kylie likes to say "Hiiiiiiiii" to everyone and everything.
She is also interested in what everyone is eating, especially if it looks different then what she has. So she will open her mouth "Ahhhhh" and wait until you do the same to show her what you are eating.
Spending a little quality time with the cute girl in the mirror.

"Up" kinda difficult to help her with this one.
Kylie got to spend some quality time picking flowers with Ammy.

 Smells good.

When Kylie heard the "Moooooo" coming from the neighbors yard she wanted to go on a walk to find the cow.

We got closer and the "Mooooo" was louder and she was not so sure she wanted to continue.

But eventually we made it there and she enjoyed looking at the cows. Kylie can now say "cow" and after we went back inside for dinner she wanted to go see the cows again. It was to dark so we had to settle for uncle Tim "mooing" around the living room.
Reading stories with Auntie Do before we got in the car to drive home. She did really well on the drive, she slept the whole way with one little wake up, she fussed for about 5 min but once I turned on The Sound Of Music she was back to sleep in no time at all. Her favorite song right now is "Maria."

Talking, talking and more talking.

After my last blog posting, I decided to keep track of everything Kylie said in one day. Here is the current list of the words she knows... money, work, down, manatee, trash, ball, baby, mama, dada, yeah, ut-oh, nana (nursing), up, no, mark (markers), wawa (water), truck, bubaid (band-aid), toe, walk, apple, cheers, bye, peepee, took (cookie), eggs, eyes, Dish (her doll Tido), elbow, eye brow, Doe (Quin), me, Marta (Melissa), auntie, Papa, Ammy (Diana), Ama (Carol), nose, knee, book, park, whale, pat, back, bark, Coco, Mimi (Misheel), Matt, Josh, Lala (Lane), more, please, neck, trash truck, painting, Al (Alisa), Ek (Erika), march, big, push, meow, bow wow, Jackson, and possibly a couple more I missed. Needless to say she has got a big vocabulary for an almost 17 month old.
She communicates so well, I feel like her vocabulary, and ability to put it all together, gets better every day, it is SO fun!

Other big events... Kylie has had a couple nights where she has slept from about 10pm-almost 5am, wow! It's only happened a couple times, but it gives us some hope for the future.

Last week Kylie went to her pile of diapers, picked one up, slowly laid down on the floor then tried to put her diaper under her. When we asked her if she needed her diaper changed she said "yay" and then "poopy." Yep she was right, a big one, is it to soon to start potty training? ;o)

Kylie gave Grandma Carol a name, Ama! She says is like Mama without the first M, we think it is because Ama is like Mama with our the MMMMMilk, lol.

Kylie got to see her first musical, The Sound Of Music, and she LOVED it! It was playing at the bowl and we took Kylie to see the dress rehearsal, she watched the whole 3 hour show! She danced and swung her arms like she was conducting, she clapped with the songs were over and asked for more. She loved watching the smallest girl (only 4 years old). She loved it so much that we took her Thursday, Friday and Saturday night. It only played for those few days, but today we have been singing all the songs and Kylie has been marching around the house. We need to buy the video so we can watch it over and over!

Kylie's bottom two molars are all the way through, she is now working on her K9's on the top and bottom.

She has started HATING bath time. It is so bad that she literally claws and climbs out of the tub screaming as if someone is hurting her. It is horrible. Today we tried playing in the water outside and adding a little soap, it worked well until we tried to get her hair wet. We might just have to make a trip to the pool tomorrow and call it a bath :o)

This is from a couple days ago.

From yesterday.
 Continued...

Play date with Liam last week.

We took a walk to Olive Market in the wagon.

Two weeks ago we attended, Craig's good friend, Thad's wedding. It was a fun evening at a beautiful home. By the end of the night, Kylie was in her PJ's, she took a little nap (I messed it up by trying to put her down) then she was up dancing. Well Craig and I were dancing and I was holding little Miss May. The music was loud and we were bouncing around, Kylie did not look like she was enjoying it at all. but every time we walked off the dance floor she would look at me and say "more." I would ask "Kylie do you want to go dance more with Mommy?" and she was say "yay." So we danced.
 Kylie enjoyed exploring the venue.
 Oh Doe!
Showing Josh her pre-dance warm-up moves.

She picked this flower off a bush and carried it around as her little treasure.

Thank goodness there were lots of Aunties to take turns walking with Miss May.
 Auntie Taylor.
Flowers are good for eating too.

Last week on Wednesday, we took a family trip to Corona Del Mar. I had taken some photos there earlier in the week and just loved it, so we decided to go for the day.
Tido came with us (of course) and in this photo Craig is making Tido squish the seaweed with his foot, Tido had to try everything before Kylie would think about it.

Watching the waves come in, not so sure about the water.
But see, Tido likes to get his feet wet...
 Kylie loved watching the seagulls...
 and spinning around in circles.

 Break time.
Kylie made a little friend, Mia, while we were there. Mia handed Kylie her little mermaid doll and Kylie leaned over and gave her a kiss, it was so sweet.
 Chair dancing.
Kylie would get so upset when Tido got sand in his face, then she would try to wipe it off with her sandy hands and it would just get worse, vicious cycle.
Kylie has a handful of activities she does that I refer to as her "attempts at remaining an only child"
In particular, this is one where she stands up, then sits back as fast and hard as she can, landing on my stomach, causing me to grunt and moan, she thinks it is so funny, she will do it over and over until I escape.

 Silly one!

After a long day at the beach, we headed to Papa's boat. Kylie had never been to the boat before, she seemed to enjoy it even though we didn't take it out of the slip.
The next day we headed down to Vista to visit Niels, Marisa, Raine, Sunny and Sky. Over these two days of driving back and forth to the beach Kylie actually slept in her car seat. She fell asleep on her own, it was awesome!
We ate at the restaurant Neils works at, it was so delicious!
Baby Sky is 11 months younger then Kylie but already weights 3 lbs more! All that good mama milk!
 Someone translate please!
Dance party with the Aunties. We enjoyed a visit from Ammy, Lala, Doe, Ek and Al last week. Kylie loves having everyone here.
Her first pair of overalls, thanks Ama.
When Kylie woke up from her nap today she grabbed my breast pad and put it on her head. It fell off and she said "ut-oh" and put it back on. This happened about 6 more times until she was almost in tears because she couldn't keep it on, so we decided to clip it with the bow, I think it is a cute fashion statement :o)
I'm sure there is more to write, but that's all I can think of right now.
Good night,
Natalie
